We stopped calling it CRO. Here's why

Plus: New site, new positioning, new offer, and now a new look here too

Hey optimizer, Your eyes are fine. This is the newsletter finally catching up with the rest of us.

Not sure if you've caught it through my countless posts, but we've been through a full redesign at ConversionWise.

New site, new positioning, new offer, new everything. That's all been live for a while.

The newsletter was the last thing left on the list, and as of this morning it's done.

The new look is the boring bit though. Why we changed the positioning is the part worth reading, so let me explain.

I was digging through a client's data a while back and sat there going "hang on." CPCs falling. Conversion rates falling.

At the same bloody time.

That should not happen.

So I pulled up another account. Same picture. Then another. Same again.

This entire industry has spent a year screaming about creative while the back half of the funnel quietly rotted. More ads. More hooks. More UGC. More AI slop nobody asked for.

All of it firing traffic at destinations nobody has touched since 2021.

The ad promises one thing.

The landing page mumbles something else.

The PDP completely ignores the question the ad just planted in someone's head.

And the offer is aimed at absolutely nobody.

Meta's doing its job by the way. It's out there finding you buyers and handing them over on a plate.

You're the one answering the door in a dressing gown with the telly on in the background.

This is why I keep saying:

We’ve stopped thinking about CRO as “conversion rate optimisation.”

And started thinking about it as post-click growth.

Because the old playbook was largely:

Run ads → send traffic → maybe optimise later.

The new playbook is:

The ad and the destination are now one system.

Which is why we're now a post click growth company.

Landing pages, redesigns, dev, audits, ongoing CRO, consultancy.

Every place your money dies between the click and the checkout.

Now, with all that said, this week's issue is post click from top to bottom. Let's go.

Weekly Content Roundup

Get the latest and greatest CRO content from around the web.

If you're a brand doing under 8 figures annually, these are the only 8 things I'd be focusing on when it comes to post-click optimisation.

Everything else is a distraction (Link)

Badges don't build better carts.

"10% Off" might grab attention, but it rarely grows AOV.

If you want customers to buy more, your offer needs to do more than just discount. Here's what to do instead (Link)

02 / CLIENT RESULTS
A whopping 17% up on last year's sale

Driven by new landing pages, continuous optimization, and some great work from the team at Conversionwise

04 / A/B TEST OF THE WEEK
A bloated header was blocking sales

This redesign helped drive $551K a year, without adding traffic.

The original collection page had a bulky top section that pushed products too far down.

We condensed it, giving users faster access to what they actually came for.

No offer changes. No promos. Just smarter use of space.

By tightening the layout and improving visual hierarchy, we made it easier to browse, reduced friction, and kept users in shopping mode longer.

The results?

$45,936/month

$1.38 more revenue per session

$551,232/year (forecasted)

Small UX wins can drive serious revenue.

Your layout might be costing you more than you think.
