Hey optimizer,
ConversionMail is back with some fresh perspectives on making your site work better.
Grab a snack and let's explore what we've discovered lately.
01 / INTERNAL NEWS
7 days until Fatboy Slim plays Brighton
Ecom Insiders lands on 9th and 10th September, and here's the running order:
ā A morning of actionable ecommerce content plus our own Dragons' Den
ā Big Beach Volleyball, brands scrapping it out on the sand
ā Sunset drinks, obviously
ā Brands only dinner, no conference bullshit
ā Yolk House Fest, Fatboy Slim closing it out
No lanyard queue. No recycled panel. No death by PowerPoint.
The 25 free tickets went, and quickly. Paid spots are still there for now.
See you on the beach.

03 / TEARDOWN
Luxury brand. Non luxury UX
NEST has incredible products and world class brand equity but their site is missing core persuasion levers š
Here's how I'd optimize their store after 12+ years improving 3,500+ ecommerce brands:
1. Cart

ā Reinforced free shipping bar to increase AOV
ā Progress bar toward free shipping to drive additional spend
ā Gift wrapping callout moved into high visibility section
ā Strong cross sells with clear "Add" buttons and ratings
ā Savings broken out visually
ā Cleaner subtotal and tax messaging
ā Higher contrast checkout CTA
ā Payment icons added for trust and friction reduction
2. PDP

ā Reassurance bar added at the top for consistency
ā Quality indicators added under header (Easy Return, Fast Delivery, Quality Guarantee)
ā Clean, spacious product gallery with directional cues
ā Social proof surfaced under product name (4.7/5 by 140+ customers)
ā Clear pricing hierarchy with sale callout ("Save 20%")
ā Bullet point benefits: Seasonal fragrance, Clean & cruelty free, Reusable glass holder
ā Strong, anchored Add to Bag CTA
ā Trust badges added under CTA (Cruelty Free & Vegan, No Toxic Chemicals, Lead Free Clean Burn)
3. Homepage

ā Clear, high contrast reassurance bar ("FREE Shipping for orders over $125")
ā Added trust icons for credibility (Easy Return, Super Fast Delivery, Quality You Trust)
ā Stronger navigation shortcuts (Candles, Perfumes, Diffusers, Bath & Body, Gifts)
ā Added review score (4.7/5 by 3,000+ customers) for instant social proof
ā Benefit driven headline: Where Luxury Meets Every Moment
ā Supporting bullets: Iconic scents, Everyday luxury, Elegant gifts
ā Strong CTA shift from generic to Shop Bestsellers
ā Introduced visual scroller for browsing key products
These are proven CRO playbooks and even without a full redesign, changes like these routinely unlock meaningful lifts in conversion rate, AOV, and revenue per session.
04 / A/B TEST OF THE WEEK
How our mega menu redesign drove $175k+ in ARR

Our client's mega menu wasn't just underperforming. It was actively sabotaging sales.
Every time a visitor clicked those innocent looking social icons, they weren't just leaving their navigation...
They were abandoning their entire purchase funnel.
What we tested
We redesigned the mega menu to focus purely on guiding the user journey:
ā Removed social icons that led users off site
ā Added images beside category listings for clearer, faster navigation
Why it worked
Distractions were eliminated.
Images helped users instantly recognize categories.
The nav became a tool for clarity, not confusion.
Takeaway lesson
Your navigation shouldn't just look clean. It should convert.
Focus users, guide their flow, and don't let subtle friction cost you six figures.
The Result
