What 50+ ecom brands told us about AI

Plus: The cart test most brands skip

Hey optimizer, today's forecast:

Heavy revenue moving in from the south, with a slight chance of your competitors crying into their ad spend. Umbrella optional. ☀️

What I'd test first with zero customer data

For the culture...

Another brand.

Another heuristic teardown.

No analytics.

No heatmaps.

No user recordings.

Just what I'd be testing first after 13+ years of CRO.

1. Cart

The cart should make spending more feel rewarding.

I'd test:

→ A visual free gift progress bar

→ Cleaner product hierarchy

→ Better cross sells with ratings + one click add

→ Savings made obvious

→ Stronger checkout reassurance

2. PDP

Good products deserve better merchandising.

I'd test:

→ Trust signals before the product title

→ Bigger review presence

→ Make the saving impossible to miss

→ Turn features into visual benefits

→ Cleaner variant selection with stronger defaults

3. Homepage

Orbitkey already has a clean aesthetic.

I'd simply make it work harder.

I'd test:

→ Trust built immediately

→ Lifestyle imagery before product shots

→ A stronger, benefit led headline

→ One clear CTA

→ Supporting USPs directly under the fold

Small tweaks.

Less thinking.

More buying.

That's usually where the biggest wins come from.

04 / A/B TEST OF THE WEEK
One objection was costing them thousands

Ecom brands, here's something we've started doing on almost every CRO project...

Before we touch a single page...

We speak to customers.

Honestly, it's probably the highest ROI thing we do.

On this particular brand, one objection kept coming up before people bought.

I won't share exactly what it was because it's client confidential...

But it was clear enough that we thought:

"Why are we trying to answer this ourselves when hundreds of customers have already answered it for us?"

So we did something ridiculously simple.

We went through their reviews and found the ones that directly addressed that objection.

Then we built a review carousel and placed it where customers were naturally asking themselves that question.

That's it.

No redesign.

No fancy AI.

No huge development project.

Just putting the right customer stories in front of the right people at the right time.

The Result

+$63,735
MONTHLY REVENUE

Why this worked

It's another reminder that reviews aren't there to prove people like your product.

They're there to remove doubt.

Most brands display reviews because they think they should.

Very few actually curate them.

Takeaway

If your biggest objection is sizing...

Show reviews about sizing.

If it's comfort...

Show reviews about comfort.

If it's quality...

Show reviews about quality.

Your customers have probably already written the copy that will sell your products better than your marketing team ever could.

You just need to find it and put it in the right place.
