How to optimize bundles 🎁

When it comes to bundling there are so many advantages, these include:

  • Increased Perceived Value: By grouping products together at a discounted rate, customers often feel they're getting a better deal, increasing the likelihood of purchase.

  • Simplified Decision Making: Instead of deciding on multiple products separately, customers have a streamlined choice, which can reduce decision fatigue and cart abandonment.

  • Higher Average Order Value (AOV): Encouraging customers to buy bundles can increase the total cart value, leading to increased revenue.

  • Inventory Management: Bundling can help move less popular items by pairing them with bestsellers.

However, it’s important you first think about the best practice for your store when it comes to offering bundles.

What I mean by this is every store is unique, every audience is unique and it’s important you don’t just bundle for the sake of “increasing AOV!”.

Here are some effective forms of bundling:

  • Complementary Products: Group products that naturally go together. For example, a camera, memory card, and camera bag.

  • Volume Discounts: Offer price reductions for purchasing products in bulk or larger quantities.

  • Limited-Time Bundles: Create urgency with time-sensitive bundled deals.

  • Personalized Bundles: Use customer browsing and purchase data to offer tailored product combinations.

Now, here are some key design practices for optimizing bundle layouts to ensure high conversion rates:

  1. Label Best Sellers: Clearly mark your most popular bundles with labels like "Best Selling" or "Most Popular" to guide customer choices.

  2. Different Package Options: Present bundles in varied package options, such as 1, 3, 5, or 6 items, allowing customers to choose based on their needs. Use your data to guide you on these.

  3. Highlight the Popular Bundle: Make your most popular bundle stand out by using a different color stroke or making its container slightly larger. This normally converts best in the middle.

  4. Strikethrough Price: Show the original price with a strikethrough, next to the bundle price. This visually emphasizes the discount.

  5. Bundle Price: Clearly display the bundle price in a larger, bolder font to catch the customer's eye.

  6. Savings Label: Highlight the total savings in a label, possibly with a different color or design element. This can be placed near the bundle price for immediate visibility.

Here’s a wireframe for you, happy bundling!
